Short documentary about Vince Clarke…who has a fetish for synthesizers (!!!!)…
Vince Clarke is a man synonymous with synth pop and a legend in the history of electronic music. Not only has he founded three of the most popular and lasting groups in history — Depeche Mode, Yazoo and Erasure — he has spent the last 30 years amassing one of the most impressive collections of rare, ‘holy grail’ synthesizers.
He recently moved to Maine where he built a temple for these monolithic machines called ‘The Cabin’. It was to here that Motherboard made its latest pilgrimage, meeting this musical titan for a trip around his studio, and getting a little demonstration of one of Vince’s signature moves: building a drum pattern from a wall of modular synths!
Enjoy…
